Bit boring to say the least.
The high street is full of chain shops and resturants. Hamlet court road is a dive. All the "alternative" pubs are a bit rubbish too.

review stuff in southend-on-sea? now thats proper init.. wot kinda stuff? erm the beach is better than I remember it ever being, though its still nowt comparing to bournemouth lol ..haha.. well sarfend is alright, I tend to hang out away from there tho :)

southend is cool i guess, not amazing but tis cool, im still there for college for another month, chinnerys is rtaher sick tho, specially last years limit fest, skate seen is pretty sick to x

Southend.. is a ..diverse place.
There are some places and parts that are really nice.
And there are some places that are dubious.
But either way there's always things to do every night and plenty of people to meet.
So I shall miss it.
But only a.bit.
Good places to go are Mayhem..
The Royal..
The Sunrooms,
Maybe the Alex..
Give Talk a wide berth if you don't like drunk chavs, skimpily dressed skinny blondes and the everpresent smell of sweat.

Yeaaah! Southend! I spent far to much of my teens shopping there... Or at Chinneries, but I'll be 18 this week so get to experience Mayhem... Southend scares me at night so we'll see.... Hello all fellow Southenders :-D xxx

club: mayhem (Student night is monday night, free entry and 2 quid drinks)
pub: last post? i like it but ive only been a few times :)
music venue: chinnerys is definately the place to go. get some big name bands there too :D had the hoosiers the other month. coz its recently been revamped its loooovely :D
there are some skanky bits but surely thats the same for every town? there are also very pretty bits :)
p.s. ive swam in the 'sea'. thats how i spent half my summer lol, its fine

I'll miss Southend. Everything in other comments is true. Blind Owl Man is just... Owl Man(watch out for his roaming hands..) and Penny Picker Pete/Steve is very amusing. Watch out for his mega Duct-tape bucket!
Southend's great though, and I'll still miss it loads.

haha it has its bad bits but southend is actually amazing. will be sad to leave it. tis all good fun =]=] and the sea side is immense... even if it is a bit skanky...

I loved Southend. All those boy-racers on the saturday nights, pick a penny pete (actual name steve)and the longest pier in the world....what more do we need?

I've grown quite fond of southend... I've never been down the pier though. I don't think it's got anything interesting on it, so would hardly call it a pleasure pier.
The highstreet is okay, but you'd be better off at Lakeside!
Oh, and the "blind" owl man is not blind.

'thriving cafe culture and bustling nightlife'? they make it sound like a tourist place! AS IF.
Things to know about southend;
1. it SMELLs cos the thames is polluted
2. it hasn't got many good shops.
3. the odeon is always packed with kids and the floors are sticky
4. DONT swim in the estuary, youll probably end up with a mutation of some sort.
MOST IMPORTANTLY
5.DO NOT VISIT IT.
Unless you happen to like james bourne...he used to live there. hmm i think thats the only passable thin
