Sheffield

city description

'Steel City' Sheffield, located in the north of England, was the star of The Full Monty film back in 1997. It is widely regarded as the UK’s most popular city in which to study, perhaps explaining why 100,000 students descend upon South Yorkshire each September. Sheffield has more green parks and woodland than anywhere else in the country, and recently re-invented itself as a centre of sporting excellence. No surprise there, since it's the birthplace of Football. Image courtesy of Alex Briggs. Chat about life at uni in Yorkshire

If anyone's wondering where to go in the city centre during Fresher's Week and so on then I'd recommend the Lounge on West Street, opposite Barclay's bank. I love it in there. The food's good, drink well priced, DJs every night at the weekend and during Freshers Week, the staff are friendly and it's a really nice place :) added 03 / 09 / 08 05:20

Hey! Is anyone going to Sheffield to do Speech Science? Or anyone living in Crewe Flats in Sept? I'm really excited about going and have just been on a recent trip to Ikea, haha! I've seen one or two pics on google of someone's room and it looks lovely - far nicer than my room in catered halls in Newc last year. If anyone has any info or tips on Sheffield/the uni/crewe flats I'd love to get in touch with you.

Sheffield is cool. I've lived here a month now but having been coming all year as my boyfriend lives here. The University campus and things are all close by each other and there's lots of things to do and tonnes of places -take aways, pubs and bars and restaurants do student offers and discounts which is cool. One of the main streets, West Street, near the Uni has lots of pubs and things and is really handy for a night out. Hope that helps. added 07 / 08 / 08 09:03

Liverpool is great :-) Erm how about Sheffield I'm making the switch soon. Is it good/bad? What's the nightlife like? The clubs don't seem to be together as there are in Liverpool.
The people nice?
I'm just worried!!!
