Reading

city description

Reading's Oracle shopping centre is considered one of the best in the country so there’s plenty of part-time work to earn a crust. And there's even more opportunity to blow it. Reading has hosted the famous Reading Festival every year since 1971, which goes a long way to ensure its reputation for a thriving music scene stands up. Throw a wide range of pubs and clubs into the mixer, and you get an energetic town of 27,000 students.Chat about life at uni in the South East

Yea the fez was awesome! Went to sakura the monday just gone and its just not the same without the fez's nitty-grittyness!
Revs ia fun, Risa is the worst place you could possibly go to. Never even wanted to go to branigans, it looks as horrible as it sounds..
Dogma is good on a friday, aswell as purple turtle.
Q bar is cheap most nights, friday is busy in there..
shopping is average, abit on the small side
Reading on the whole is alright, but Bristol and cardiff are both way better though. added 28 / 08 / 08 03:14

i love Reading [: i'm gonna miss it when i go off to Bedford in sept!
I think the nightlife's pretty good but then I can't compare to too many other places.
I tend to go to the rock/indie/alternative nights and The Purple Turtle, which has d&b every friday and saturday but it's more of a bar than a club. most of the clubs are generally a good night out, depending on who your with i suppose!
Sakura's not bad on a monday it's student rock/indie night. used to be so much better when it was fez! added 04 / 08 / 08 06:00

For students the clubs are ok. There's revolutions (vodka bar) near the station which has just had a refurb. Q bar is pretty good on a sat.. monday night its cheap for students. Thurdays generally good night for students as well. Bar risa is the chav of Reading. Zero degree's is good if you like beer, a new japanese bar called Sakara (sp) is opening soon. stay away from branagins if u like being alive. the mix serves maaaaasive proportions of alchy in nice lil cocktails vue cinema is gd too added 12 / 05 / 08 05:11

I'v lived in Reading all my life, it's nothing special. Personally i hate it, i'v been mugged twice and all i get is constantly stared at and abuse chucked at me. I cannot wait to leave, seriously. added 23 / 04 / 08 08:27

Reading is good enough. For shopping you have everything you need though the oracle is very tedious but hanging round the riverside at oracle can be amusing, for clubbing there is about 10 clubs on the main club street and a few else where. Start off pubs on the same street (Friar Street)
If you go to Reading buy tickets for the festival, its awesome.
The campus at whiteknights is a maze but i guess you get used to it soon enough. Have fun! added 13 / 02 / 08 09:22
