Durham is really lush but there isnt much 2 do in the town besides eat n drink. its easy to get everywhere because of the train station though and its a really nice place to live!!

Durham university was my favourite just because of the night out before interview. Some current students took us on a pub crawl and we visited Klute. Thaught I stuffed up the intervie the next morning actually!!!

i will be also moving to queens campus in october from kendal in cumbria! i won't miss home too much as its quiet here and i am sooo excited to get to uni!!! :)

I'll be moving to Queens Campus in Oct from Newcastle (gona miss the night life but its not such a big loss especially when U can travel)

Ive just moved to just outside Durham and i've really enjoyed it so far, there are a few good bars and clubs and your not too far from newcastle.

I love Durham! I know I've lived there all my life but I think it's beautiful and if I dont end up at Durham Uni I'll miss it LOADS!
its not too far from newcastle or sunderland and the night life isnt too bad
there are loads of students too who all seem friendly :)

Having lived outside London all my life shops, cinemas etc have always been at hand but Durham whilst it's not the best at offering all of this gives you better quality of life because you escape the London panicked rush of life up there... not to mention cheaper to live :D

I've recently moved to Stoke for Uni, and missing being able to get a 10 minute train journey to Newcastle...Durham isn't the best place to go for a night out, but you can get some pretty cheap drinks on student night... =].

Considering half of Durham's population is made up of students, the cinema is shockingly poor.
We have two cinema screens in the whole city, because our beloved Robins Cinema was closed down to make way for Walkabout a few years back in what was a major controversy in the area.
despite promises of a multiplex somewhere in the city - nothing has been planned yet.
so get ready for lots of commuting if enjoy going to the cinema.

I've lived in Durham all my life, and its good and bad for different reasons. The Cathedral is stunning and walking around inside it is quite humbling. A walk along the river is also nice (if a bit smelly in some areas).
The shops are crap, so be prepared to get the train through to Newcastle - the clothes shops we have you can count on your two hands, and we have two proper music shops - HMV and Concepts.

Great fun place if you have imagination, shops are naff like, but the river boats and pizza hut are great, especially if there are 20 of you dressed as pirates lol.

Brown Sugar is a great little cafe/bar/restaurant in New Elvet near the County Hotel.
Its very contemporary and being next to the university union building, is a favourite for students.

Fat Buddha restaurant is lush and lloyds/the slug and lettuce is good for lunch. Yeh richards right though the gala is prity poor and there are deffinately plenty of coffee shops.

the gala is pretty rubbish for what its supposed to be, shops are dull, if you want coffee take your pick...
