Humph....I did have a mature students thread, but yougofurther stole it! So here it is again!

I'll be 26, and shall be doing English Studies this September at Hallam. Yay for getting an Unconditional offer in February, booo cos that's been of no use to me as I still have to wait for A Levels to come out before I actually hear any more news!

Please tell me I'm not the oldest person studdying at Sheffield Hallam this year!

No your not the oldest...I'm 35. Going on past experience (I've just finished a year at Huddersfield uni) I wont be the oldest by a long shot..there was a lovely lady on my course last yr who was 54.

By all accounts the average university student age is well in the 20's as more and more people travel or work for a while before returning to education.

I'm certainly not the oldest but haven't just come out of school either. I'm 21. My mother keeps stressing me out saying how difficult it will be for me to make friends because everyone else will be 18/19.

I don't think age makes that much difference, really. I think it's all about what kind of person you are. As in, if you're stuck in a group of pop loving larger-louts and you're an emo kid, you'll be unhappy even if you're the same age or different ages!

I'm just hoping for nice people in my halls. Some folk older then me would be a plus, and anyone on the same wavelength would be a super bonus!

Tell your mum from me that she's wrong....I was at Hudds uni last year and over 50% of their student population is over the age of 21. This is reflected at uni's all over the country and not just a Hudds thing!

On a lighter note it makes me laugh how they class you as mature if your over the age of 21....they've obviously not met me!
