Got a question for UCAS? Giles Ursell, one of yougo's online UCAS experts, is sparing an hour of his valuable time to be live in the forums to help take the sting out of the UCAS application and Clearing process at 3pm today. Leave your questions on his wall on the UCAS profile page, or email the editors@yougofurther.co.uk and we'll put them in front of her later on. Come back at 3pm and find out what Giles has to say. Alternatively, you can make friends with him and chat directly via the UCAS profile wall. One of the four UCAS experts are live every day on yougo next week at 3pm.

Even though results day was nearly a month ago, clearing is still open and it's still being used. TF asks
I called my uni to decline the place. How will I know when UCAS have received this information so that I can go into Clearing?

Afternoon TF, you have done the right thing in contacting your University. It is now up to the University to remove you from their offer and put you in to clearing. When the University have done this, UCAS system will be updated as will the Track service. You can keep checking Track and when this has been actioned, your clearing number will show up when you log in, and hence, you will be in clearing. Alternatively, you could just call UCAS Customer Service on 0871 468 0468 for an update on your application and we will be able to advise whether your application has been put in to clearing. Thanks TF and hope this helps.

Thanks for that. Next Tine says
I was just wondering about the next steps in my application process... I've sent the clearing passport to my uni of choice, but I have no idea what happens next, or if anything else is expected of me now. The accommodations are slipping away at Essex, and I’m getting anxious that I won't get a decent place to live while I study abroad.

Hi Tine, if you have sent the clearing passport to your choice of University, I take it you have contacted them directly, and they have offered you a place. It is now up to Essex to electronically put a “clearing acceptance” offer on to your application and this will automatically update your record with UCAS. You do not have to do anything else Tine, but I advise you give the University a call just to make sure they have received your clearing passport. The telephone number for the admissions office at Essex is 01206 873666. In regards to accommodation, it would be best to speak to the University when you call them as we do not deal with accommodation here at UCAS. Try not to worry about this, as the University will be able to give you the correct information when you speak to them directly. Thanks for your question Tine.

Another international student with concerns is Mystic Mog
I have phoned two universities this week about places but still have not received the clearing passport. I used to live in a boarding school as an international student. What can I do now?

Hello MysticMog, you have to complete an online application through the UCAS website in order to obtain a clearing passport. If you have already done this, I advise you contact our Customer Service Unit (0871 468 0468) and one of our advisors will be able to determine when and where that clearing passport was sent, and if there has been a problem, they will be able to resend a new one out to you, and to the correct address. Hope this helps MysticMog.

Hi Me, the AS12B letters were processed with no contact information on them. If you would like to e mail the University directly to confirm your place at City, then all you have to do is send an email to the following address: r.s.broom@city.ac.uk. Thanks for your query Me.

Good afternoon Mitzy, unfortunately we do not have the exact date when you actually need to enrol at University. I advise you contact the University directly and they will be able to provide you with this date. You should have received or be receiving a welcome pack from the University and your enrolment date should be provided on the information within this pack. Thanks Mitzy.

Maca's thinking about Clearing 2009 already!
If I don't go through clearing now and don't reapply in September, can I enter clearing next year? I'm on my gap year and really unsure whether I want to go to university. Also are foundation courses included in clearing or do they have a different system?
