Great. Well first up is a question from Asian Dude
I had a conditional offer from city and it changed to unconditional offer but my question is that I received the letter from UCAS saying that I should send a email to the uni saying that I accept the place and did that after the 2 days I called about more Info about the start date pack and other stuff that we are suppose to receive but the admission office is saying that they will send it in about 2 weeks time and I think uni starts that time, so its kind of confusing

Hi Asian Dude. Congratulations on getting your place. If you have followed the instructions in your AS12 letter from us and confirmed your place then you have done everything that you need to do. All universities have different procedures now for arrnaging welcome packs etc, so you should look to them for guidance on when to hear from them etc
Good luck Asian Dude

Hi there Chadni. Student finance is a seperate organisation to UCAS so you should discuss your options for a student loan with them. Good luck with it.

Next up Baz says
I just received my AS12N letter today, and you said I have 14 days to respond to it? I don’t think I have anything to respond to? What am I supposed to respond to?

Hi Baz. First of all well done on getting your place. Usually with an AS12N you only need to respond if you do NOT wish to take up your place so you may well be right in thinking you do not need to respond. I would suggest you read it again carefully and if you are unsure give us a call on 0871 468 0 468. Thanks for your question Baz.

Brilliant. Thanks for the handy number. Next we'll hear from Musa
I wanted to find out if I reject my choice and go through clearing can I go back to my original choice through clearing if I don’t get accepted in any other courses?

Hi there Musa. Clearing is for people who have no offers to gain a place at university. If you hold an offer then you must discuss with the university whether declining it is an option. This is up to the university and as you have made them a serious agreement, then they can say no! If they agree to release you from your agreement and allow you to find a place through clearing, you will have no offers. If and when the university put you into clearing, Track will show a clearing number and a clearing passport will be sent to you in the post. Using the clearing number you can contact universities with vacancies through the clearing process. Give them your clearing number and they will be able to see your application online and decide whether to make you an offer. To accept an offer you must fill out and send them your clearing passport. I must make it clear here that you can only accept one offer through clearing. When you are in clearing Musa, you will have no offers therefore if you don't find a place through clearing, you will not have the option to go back to the university you currently hold an offer with. Therefore think carefully before you proceed as there are no guarantees that you will find a place. If you wish to discuss this further please call us on 0871 468 0 468.

Simmin is in a bit of a bind. Can you help
My track doesn’t say anything about the course change but I had an email. Is it the problem of track or the firm choices institution and I didn’t receive any letters either. I am really worried. I tried to contact Manchester uni but the line is busy!!!!! Should I wait for the track to be updated or ask the uni for a release? Do you think Manchester will consider me for the course that I want to do. Are they waiting to see if there is any candidates who have higher grades as the course is in clearing list but only for international applicants?

I'll certainly try to help Simmin First of all, if you have been offered a course change then your firm should put this through on Track. If this is not showing on Track then it may be worth contacting them and asking them to do this. If you do not wish to accept the course change then your insurance place (if you have one) will become your firm, if you don't have one you will become eligible for clearing and can approach other universities. Please note that this will only happen when the university officially put the course change through on Track. If you have any questions for Manchester I recommend that you speak to them directly as they will be able to give you the information that you need. I hope this helps, please call us on 0871 468 0 468 if you wish to discuss your options further. Thankyou Simmin

Thanks Kat! The last item on the agenda today comes from Feleke I applied to study Engineering through UCAS. I have been offered four places, but because of my status, I couldn’t start my study in the coming 2008/09 academic year. I just wonder if there is some advice regarding gap year and immigration matter? Moreover I haven’t heard any thing yet from home office since I have done my fresh claim. Finally I am convinced to take gap year; is there any other option?

Hi there Feleke. I am sorry to hear that you can't begin studying this year. However, I am afraid that I am not in a position to help. Any discussions about entry to the UK should take place between you and the relevant immigration authorities who will be able to advise you further.
