Yep I really can't stand people who say this. I get it from people who have never taken A levels in their life as well lol.

I must admit, I'm almost 25, and I did start the whole A level thing thinking it would be easier that it was, because people so much younger than me were capable of doing so well at them, if that makes sense. Soon proved wrong though! Especially with essay based exams where it really depends on the person marking your paper.

I just think that A) more people are taking A levels so more people are passing  B) there are more subjects available so people can take courses they're naturally good at  and C) there are so many more resources available for students now. I think those are the real reasons more people are passing

Don't listen to these people, they probably all graduated from the "university of life" and the "school of hard knocks" lol

Totally agree. When i sat the first AS exams, i walked out of the room thinking that i'd got strait A'sbecause i had revised for a WHOLE 3 DAYS.LOL! when i got my results i got an E and a U. What a wake up call that was. Then i set myself more realistic grades of CCC which i just managed to get. I also started revising 2 months before my exams. Im glad i realized that they are no where near as easy as uneducated people say they are.

completely agree- even the ridiculously clever maths teachers had problems with some of the q.s on past papers

Especially maths, chemistry and physics :S their horrible.

Its funny how unqualified / uneducated people can just say A levels are 'easy'.

They should hold a nationwide event :D were people could try past exam papers for free and marked by a real examiner, just so they can see how it is like.

took me 3 ttempts to pass- the 3rd being 6 months later than i'd had any chem lessons. It was only an E, but it was an achievement for me lol

it depends on whether you like the subject and how much you want to study it. if you like it and try your best then u'll do well, if you dont like it and just dont put your heart in your revision then you'll do badly (especially in A2!!) thats wat i found with my a2 philosophy. But this might not be the case 4 all people. and another reason why people r doing better in subjects like psychology and sociology could be the fact that they r usually essay questions that get the most marks, and you can only ask a limited amount of questions, after a while they start askin the same questions but just reword them to make them seem different. so if people practise then they r in with a pritty good chance of doing well. I cant say that this is the same for subjects such as science and maths because i dont study them so dont know what kind of questions come up in the exams!

I Think That It's Down To The Person.

As The Saying Goes, One Man's Trash Is Another Man's Treasure.

I Was Talking To Some Of My Friends Who Go 6th Form, Even Though We Done Mostly The Same Subjects, They Found Them Very Hard, But I Thought They Were Easy.

did anyone see about a mont ago the independant wrote an article on the subject?? i wrote a very pissed off letter to them saying they certainly were not easier than they used to be and anyone who doubted it should sit some and have a bit more faith in the next generations intelligence!!

Without sounding like a smug so-and-so, i didn't find them that bad. As long as you enjoy reading, then the subjects i took ( English Lit, Archaeology and Psychology) were ok.
