Got a question for UCAS on A-level results day? Craig Fish, one of yougo's online UCAS experts, will be live in the forums to help take the sting out of the UCAS application and Clearing process at 3pm. Leave your questions on his wall on the UCAS profile page, or email the editors@yougofurther.co.uk and we'll put them in front of him later on. Come back at 3pm and find out what Craig has to say. Alternatively, you can make friends with him and chat directly via the UCAS profile wall. One of the four UCAS experts are live every day on yougo at 3pm. Tomorrow: John Madden.

Great, first up: Track has updated my insurance offer but my firm is still showing as conditional. Does this mean I have not got in?

This depends. If you are sure that you have met the conditions of your firm offer, you should contact them and find out when it is likely that they will make a decision. If you didn't, it is likely that they are taking their time to make a decision on whether to accept you or not

Thanks Craig. We've got another Track one:
When will Track update? I definitely achieved my offer of BCC but I’ve not been accepted. I’m worried!

Again if you definitely met the conditions of your offer then you should call your firm choice and find out when it is likely that they will update your decision. Obviously today they're very busy so expect to be on the phone a while!

Well Done. You'll be sent an AS12 letter in the post from UCAS and you should follow the instructions on it. I expect you'll hear from your university too. Good luck with everything and keep coming back to yougo to let us know how you're getting on

Thanks, I expect a lot of people are after the answer to the following question: What is the number to call to speak to UCAS because I’m on hold all the time and can’t get through?

That's great that you're open over the weekend this week. Next question: My firm choice has offered me a different course to what I applied for. Can they do this?

Yes they can. This tends to happen if an applicant slightly misses their offer and the university decides to offer them a similar course but one which has slightly lower entry requirements. If this has happened to you, you will be sent an AS12C letter and you have 21 days to respond to it

Thanks Craig,
Next up is another one that will be of interest to many students today:
How does clearing work?

Clearing is a process which aims to place applicants who have not achieved their firm or insurance place. It is also an option for those who do not hold any offers or late applicants. If you are eligible for clearing you will be sent a clearing passport in the post. A list of vacancies is published on www.ucas.com, you find a course you are interested in and call up the university. You will then need to give them your clearing passport number so that they can view your application online and make a decision on whether to make you an offer. You only fill out the clearing passport and send it to the offer that you wish to accept. The university will then let us know you have accepted a place with them.
