Ok first of all let's hear from Charlie

When I had a look at the entry criteria for a course at Leeds Metropolitan, it was 220 points, and they want 160 points from a 12 unit double a level course. Does this mean that an AS would count? If so, can I complete the AS after I’ve finished the double a level? Any help would be much appreciated!

Hello and thanks for your question Charlie.

In this situation it is best to contact Leeds Metropolitan to discuss their offer in more detail. The contact number for their Admissions office is 0113 81 23113.
In terms of the UCAS Tariff, achievement at a lower level will be subsumed into the higher level, ie, AS points will be subsumed into the A level points for the same subject.
Should you have any further queries please call the UCAS Customer Service Unit on 0871 468 0468 and we will be happy to help.

Thanks again.

ScottMayhem has a lovely boyfriend but unfortunately he hasn't checked the diary...

My boyfriend has booked a holiday to Barcelona but I have just this minute found out that the flight is at half ten in the morning and my results are out at ten, but my flight being at half ten means I would have to be there at like half 8, so it just isn't possible that I fetch them! Does anyone have any idea what I’m supposed to do? I was panicking loads in the first place as I don't think I will get the grades I need to get into my course! PLEAAASE help me!!!

Thanks for your question. I understand it is a very nerve racking time but there are things that you can do in this situation.
Unfortunately we will be unable to inform you of your grades at UCAS, however please be assured the results will be passed to the Universities for you. It is a good idea to check your Track account on Thursday morning if you can, as this will be updated as soon as we hear from your university choice/s.
It may also be worthwhile speaking to the school/college you attended to see what their policy is on perhaps someone else (i.e. friend or relative) checking your results on your behalf, and if so they can liaise with you on the day. Obviously this will be at their discretion.
If you find on the day that you have not achieved the grades you were expecting then please do feel free to contact your university choice/s to discuss with them whether they have any flexibility in their offer or maybe if they have an alternative they can offer to you.
If you like you can always give us a call at the UCAS Customer Service Unit on 0871 468 0468 before you go and we will be happy to go through this with you in further detail. I hope this helps.

 Thanks and good luck!

Bayan is getting nervous about narrowly missing the conditions of his offer

I think I won’t make my grades for Sheffield Hallam by about 10-20 tariff points. Will I still be given admission or is it going to be impossible...if not can I still apply for foundation course through clearance or directly by talking to Sheffield Hallam. And when am I going to get my results on Track?

Thanks for your query Bayan.

If you find on the results day that you have not achieved the grades you were expecting then please do feel free to contact Sheffield Hallam to discuss whether they have any flexibility in their offer or maybe if they have a suitable alternative they can offer to you.
If this is not possible and you find you have been unsuccessful with them then you will automatically be eligible for clearing.
If you do enter clearing please feel free to approach as many universities and colleges as you wish for the courses you are interested in. Don't feel that you have to accept the first offer that you receive: remember that you will be spending at least three years studying the course, so please make sure that the university or college and course are right for you before you accept a place. The Clearing Vacancies list will be able on the UCAS website on Thursday 14th August. Track will be available on Thursday as well and will reflect any updates as soon as Sheffield Hallam make their final decision.

Should you have any problems please call the UCAS Customer Service Unit for further advice, the telephone number is 0871 468 0468.

Good luck with this Bayan.

Adam's wondering what he should say to the university if he needs to make a case for his place

I’ve applied to Nottingham Trent University for Law and Criminology and have a conditional offer of 280 UCAS points. Should I get 260 I’ve been advised to ring the university as there is always a chance. I was wondering who it I call is and what am I meant to say, "Please let me in”??

Thanks for your query Adam.

It is best to call the University on the contact numbers supplied via the Course Search facility on the UCAS website The contact number currently listed for Nottingham Trent is 0115 941 8418. You will then be able to ask them if they can still consider you.
You will find that on Thursday 14th August that the Course Search facility is replaced with The Clearing Vacancies list.  This will also provide you with the best contact numbers to call the Institutions on.
I hope this helps and I wish you all the best with your results.
