16 June 2008 Lazio seek Vennegoor deal:

Serie A side Lazio are keen to land Celtic striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, according to president Claudio Lotito.

Vennegoor of Hesselink recently pledged his future to the SPL champions, stating his ambition to make serious headway with the club in next term's UEFA Champions League.

However, Lotito has revealed that Lazio would be interested in bringing the Dutchman to Stadio Olimpico if they can strike a deal with Celtic that meets their valuation of the player.

Lotito said in the Daily Record: "Vennegoor of Hesselink is a player we rate highly.

"We've been watching him closely for a while. His strength is a real force and he has a lot of European experience.

"He is a player who without question interests us but it depends what Celtic would ask for as a transfer fee.

"Beyond €7million (about £5.5million) is out of our reach."
