Money: Credit card? No!

Never get a credit card when you are still a student, there are so many other options out there for you.
Instead of getting a credit card at Uni, you could...

1. Look at the best student bank advice. Open a savings account

2. Get a part-time job.

3. Extend your student overdraft.

4. If it comes to it, ask mum or dad for a bit of money!

The art of persuasion can save you a lot of money whilst you are a student
The art of persuasion can save you a lot of money whilst you are a student. It certainly can blag you a lot
of freebies, free stuff and free money. Persuading your mum or dad to give you some money may not be as hard
as you think. The key to getting what you want is not to moan about it, try to phrase it a little differently.

If you're able to factually give reasons why you are out of money, for example:

"Mum, the rising cost of oil is putting me out of pocket. I can't afford much petrol and soaring food prices are leaving me with little to each eat week."

It may sound a bit political, but parents like to know facts. They don't want to think their money is going to be spent in wild nights on the town or expensive restaurant meals.

So please, do NOT get a credit card whilst you study. There is much cheaper and better options, extending your student overdraft should get you up to £2000 at 0%, a part-time job could give you an extra £100 a week, opening a savings accountcan give you up to an extra £350 a year (if you put your loan and overdraft in there) and you never know what you could get from mum or dad.

Thank you! This is an amazing advice. I'm from Kuwait and here banks are issuing credit cards to people as young as 16 years old. They dont have monthly income, they don't know anything about credit cards. All they know is you put *that number* on this box on the internet and then u get what you want! And of sadly after they reach the credit card limit, they start sinking in the interest and u know all the rest!

That's persuaded me! Thanks for the advice on how to get ur parents to give u money. That may come in handy...

Aslong as you pay the money off by the end of your 0% intrest period then why worry about?

Aslong as your not stupid with your money then why worry.

just budget i've worked out after paying my Accomm i can spend 125 a week without going into any overdraft or credit cards. (i've still got both thou)
